Taiwanese media have reported that smartphone maker HTC will launch a 5.9-inch phablet in September known as the HTC One Max, and a video teaser released several hours ago by the company seems to validate the rumors.
HTC posted a Vine video on its official Twitter account with a tweet that simply said “Big Things Ahead” (probably hinting at a bigger smartphone to come), and did the same on its official Instagram account. Subsequently, a slightly longer YouTube clip (hat-tip Engadget) has surfaced too.
The HTC teaser video features a helicopter landing and (possibly) Robert Downey Jr., who reportedly inked a two-year global marketing deal worth an estimated $12 million to help promote the company.
Its tagline “Here’s To Change” also hints that HTC wants to chart a new direction as the struggling smartphone maker seeks to regain some momentum and claw back market share in the highly-competitive sector.
Watch the video and keep your eyes peeled for that split second glance of a phone to decide if it could possibly be the HTC One Max.
