Launched back in September 2012, Timbre‘s reputation as a location-based concert-finding app has been steadily growing over the past year or so. In a nutshell, the iPhone app helps you discover live music in your area based on a pre-defined radius – although it can use your current location, you can manually stipulate which region you’re looking for.

With version 2.0 that’s just hit the App Store, Timbre has introduced a tonne of treats for music fans around the world – and it’s gone social, baby.

You can now ‘star’ certain shows, essentially letting you bookmark them for future references, while the new Facebook integration means you can now see what gigs your friends are planning to attend too.

In addition, you can now get full-song audio playback through the app with Spotify, and you can also receive alerts when your favorite bands are scheduled to return to your area. A little like Songkick.

A handful of other new features have been rolled out too, including maps and directions to venues.

The new Timbre app is available now, while the Android incarnation is still sitting in beta.
